WHO AM I?

My name is Jacqueline "Jackie" Bosby, and I am honored to seek election as Commissioner for District 2 in Oglethorpe County. Born in Detroit and raised in Chicago, my husband and I have chosen Oglethorpe County as our home since 2001. I take pride in developing programs that meet individual and community needs. Over the past 24 years, I have designed and implemented programs and training initiatives across Georgia, focusing on leadership development for hundreds of teenagers and young adults. I am many things to many people—a proud daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, godmother, friend, colleague, acquaintance, teacher, and mentor. While the internet may tell part of my story, it doesn't tell the whole truth. Transparency, accountability, honesty, and truth are principles I hold dear.

TELL YOUR OWN STORY

These days you can google anyone, but what happens when someone googles you and they only see part of a story? Well it's true "Google" me and the first thing that pops up is Mother and Daughter indicted for defrauding the IRS. .. But what they don't tell you is, it wasn't true, and the case was dismissed with prejudice. Nor does it tell you that the funds were given in a reimbursable grant in which my nonprofit was the fiscal agent and that the money was given to provide a service that was completed and they received awards for. I can't run from the internet but I can tell you the truth. If you would like to know more ask me please don't assume. I believe in transparency and accountability but most of all I believe in honesty and the truth. Own your intentions but don't let someone else make you guilty if you're not.

ALWAYS TEACHING

I have always enjoyed creating programs that can teach others. "Though my resume is lengthy," I will share a few of my largest accomplishments. In 1982 - I developed a program for the Military in Misawa Japan In 1996, I was offered a position as Community Relations Director of the Village of Maywood where I continued to develop programs and services for the entire community with a priority of services to the homeless and other low-income families. Maywood, Illinois is a suburb 8 miles west of Chicago. Upon moving to Georgia I have shifted all of my focus to youth development and leadership.
